18 Months

I can't believe my baby is a year and a half old...where has the time gone?

7/7/12 - 18 months old

He walks (@ 13 months), talks (says car, cracker, mango, bubbles, bar, blocks, mama, dada, shoe, water, bye-bye, night-night, light, moon, star, yellow, hello, show, video - he says "bos"...), waves hello and goodbye, blows kisses, gives kisses, counts to ten, "reads", knows his body parts, knows a couple of animal sounds (cow and lion), feeds himself,  says "no" (quite adamantly) and nods his head yes.  He sleeps about 11-12 hours a night, plus a 2-hour nap in the afternoon.  He is Daddy's boy.  He loves blowing bubbles and being outside walking around in wide open spaces.  His favorite shows are The Wiggles and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and says "no" to other shows.  He loves watching videos of himself on our phones.  This summer he completed a 2-week swim class and did very well in the water.  We also have been taking him to My Gym, a fitness center for children, where he gets to play, exercise, socialize, work on gross motor skills, listening skills, and impulse control.  I can't believe that we are already looking into different childcare options for the fall as I will be doing a full-time internship.  The thought of being away from my baby everyday every week already makes me sad...I just can't believe how fast time is flying.  As challenging as it was to be a grad school mom, I am so glad that I had Jake while I was still in school because it afforded me a lot of time to be with him during the week.  I am extremely grateful for my support system- I would not have made it through grad school without the support of my husband and our parents.

The last 18 months have been exciting, challenging, amazing, fun, wonderful.  It has been fascinating seeing my son grow up right before my eyes.  Parenthood is the most difficult but the best job.  Each day is an adventure, every minute is precious.  If only time would slow down just a little...
